Move In Day at UNBC

PRINCE GEORGE – Bins are loaded to the gunnels, packed with what students will live with on campus. It’s moving day at UNBC. One of the most exciting and frankly, nerve-wracking times of a young student’s life.

“Two of the most exciting days in a sort of a university’s life cycle, one being convocation when the students graduate and then one being like, move in the first start of the term when students are coming to join,” says Dr. Geoff Payne, President of UNBC. “The energy here is so electric, it’s it’s palpable. And as the students moving away from home for the first time, returning students and then the energy from the staff that are going above and beyond.”

Tienna Cheng has helped first-time and returning students get settled for the past three years.

“Yeah, we really love the community here, so there’s we have our RS, our resident assistants who are there to support that transitional piece. So all the questions that you might have moving out of home for the first time, potentially we have those transitional people who can help you there. But really, we focus on the community. So there’s all these friends, there’s all that easiness to just get to campus and back and have everything you need right here in the space. So that’s the best part of living on campus that you can’t get anywhere else.”

A series of events are planned for Orientation next week.
