Landfill fire causes $20k in damages

PRINCE GEORGE — A fire at the Foothills Landfill Friday night caused approximately $20,000 in damages.

Thirteen firefighters from three halls responded at around 6:30 p.m. to find the fire.

The City says when crews arrived, they found a fire burning on the active face of the dump approximately 300’ by 300’ in size. They also say:

• Crews attacked the wind driven fire with handlines.
• Contract equipment crews arrived and used on scene equipment to cover the area with thick dirt as fire crews extinguished the area.
