PRINCE GEORGE – Studio 2880 has been known for its Artists-in-Residence but, they’re typically visual artists, such as painters. Not anymore. With the new addition, Danny Bell, they’re stepping into a new type of artistry.

“We really think that he’s going to be the perfect instrument to help bring together performing arts, creative collaborations, and creating a piece that I think is going to be very interesting and reflective of many attributes of our local community.”

– Eli Klasner, Executive Director for PG Community Arts Council

The plan for Bell’s project isn’t fully clear yet, although it does include isolating in a cabin to truly focus on composing, but the outcome is still to be determined.

“[The hope is to] compose a few songs that are interconnected, either through a concept or through a melodic theme, and then have some stories that connect them to make it kind of a more holistic piece.”

– Danny Bell, new Artist-in-Residence

To cap everything off, Bell will have the opportunity to show what he’s made in front of a crowd.

“He’ll be the final performance of this year’s nine-part performing arts series. So, I think that’s great. I think that’ll be a great accomplishment that even though our series is bringing in visiting artists, the end of the season is going to be Danny and and other local performers performing this unique composition.”
