Cops for Cancer Tour de North raises $150K
PRINCE RUPERT — Cops for Cancer (Tour de North is celebrating another successful year.
After a week on the road, starting in Prince George last week, law enforcement and emergency services personnel completed the over 850 kilometre trek in Prince Rupert on Thursday, raising over $150,000.
Organizers say that money will be directed towards life-saving childhood cancer research and a national support system for children affected by cancer and their families.
An estimated 1,050 children (ages 0-14) in Canada were diagnosed with cancer in 2021. Over the last five years, the Canadian Cancer Society has invested $16.5 million in childhood cancer research projects.
