Coyote attacks on the rise

Sep 28, 2023 | 2:05 PM

PRINCE GEORGE—Prince George RCMP have issued a warning to the public after a rise in recent reported coyote attacks across the city.

Over the past week, we have received six different reports of coyotes attacking people within the city. We are currently working with the Conservation Officer Service on patrols and efforts to locate offending coyotes. We urge the public to avoid feeding coyotes, as it can habituate them to spending time around populated areas; they are not domestic animals and should not be treated as such.

Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP

The Conservation Officer Services are recommending to take precautions in case of further coyote encounters. This includes travelling in groups, leashing pets and keeping cats indoors. For additional safety tip visit WildSafeBC.com
