Great Beaver Lake and Tatuk Lake wildfires downgraded to evacuation alerts

PRINCE GEORGE — Good news on the wildfire front as a pair of evacuation orders in our region have been downgraded to evacuation alerts.

Those include the Great Beaver Lake wildfire in the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George (RDFFG) and the Tatuk Lake wildfire located 21 kilometres south of Vanderhoof. That evacuation alert was issued by the Saikuz First Nation.

The downgraded evacuation orders were made possible by our wet and cooler weather.

According to the BC Wildfire Service, there are still 335 active fires in B.C. – 50 of those are listed as out-of-control. There are however no fires of note – those are fires that are threatening to communities and infrastructure.
