PRINCE GEORGE – The Prince George Emergency Reception Centre was scheduled to open on Monday; however, due to the wildfire evacuation in Fort Nelson over the weekend, it was opened on Saturday instead.

The Prince George Emergency Reception Centre behind the Kin Centres opened its doors on Saturday, welcoming nearly twenty families forced to evacuate because of a wildfire threatening their home community of Fort Nelson.

The B.C. Wildfire Service has evacuated its support staff from Fort Nelson due to the Parker Lake wildfire, which could hit the town due to strong westerly winds.
