Job action to start at CNC Tuesday though classes expected to continue

PRINCE GEORGE — Job action is about to start at the College of New Caledonia.

All of this after the Faculty Association of CNC provided 72 hours strike notice to CNC on Thursday.

And while negotiations have continued, they will be proceeding with a work-to-rule action on Tuesday morning at 8 a.m. In a news release, the College says the union will not be setting up pickets.

A work to rule is generally defined as an action in which employees perform their duties strictly to the letter of their contract.

This means that any impacts on classes and services provided by faculty will be minor.

The College reports that both parties have expressed a firm desire and commitment to reach a mutually agreeable and equitable conclusion to collective bargaining.

The College and the Faculty Association are scheduled to continue bargaining with the mediator to reach a collective agreement that works for both the employees and the College in support of our mutual desire to serve the needs of the students.
