Holocaust education supported by Council

PRINCE GEORGE – Council has approved a recommendation from the Intergovernmental Affairs Committee to send a resolution to the North Central Local Government Association with respect to Holocaust education.

Specifically, the resolution seeks to pursue holocaust education in the K – 12 education system.

This resolution comes on the heels of the Province announcing holocaust education will be included in the Grade 10 Social Sciences curriculum by the 2025/2026 school year.

In. a survey by Statistics Canada, showed that that there were 750 police-reported hate crimes targetting religious minorities, nearly 70 percent were aimed at the Jewish community.

There was also a recommendation that if the resolution is accepted by the NCLGA, it would be forwarded to School 57 and, with an amendment, to include private schools.
