Timberwolves struggle in Alberta

EDMONTON, AB – This wasn’t the best weekend the UNBC Timberwolves. The men’s and women’s basketball teams visited the Alberta Golden Bears and couldn’t secure a victory. After losing on Friday (Nov. 24), the Timberwolves also had a hard time last night (Nov. 25).

On the men’s side, the team fell short losing 70-65. In a battle that had 16 lead changes, Ledoux was tremendous for UNBC, leading all scorers with 22 points to go along with six rebounds. Chris Ross had 13 points, nine rebounds, and six assists in his first start of the campaign, while Josh Gillespie and Evgeny Baukin scored in double figures.

The women also struggled.The Alberta Pandas held a 25-6 advantage in offensive rebounds, and outscored the UNBC Timberwolves 44-8 in the paint, leading to a convincing 71-50 victory. Manak led UNBC with 17 points, four rebounds, three assists, while Filatova came off the bench and 15 points, five rebounds, five assists, and four steals.
