Ness Lake Polar Bear Dip set for January 1,2024

Dec 14, 2023 | 12:45 PM

NESS LAKE— Have you thought of a new years resolution? How about getting really cold for a good cause? The twenty-third annual polar bear dip is scheduled for January first at Ness Lake Bible Camp. All funds raised will go directly to the Camper Sponsorship Fund.

Last year the event raised over 21000 dollars to help send kids to camp that otherwise could not afford it.

“This fundraiser is an epic event. Something super unique to the North, and to Prince George as there are not many places you have to cut through a foot of ice to go for an afternoon dip. Although this year the lake has just frozen over, so who knows how much ice there will actually be January first, says Dayna Penson, Event organizer. “Whether or not we have to cut the ice we will run the event and we can’t wait to have the community come out and all while helping make camp affordable for all families.”

The formal ceremony will start at 1:30 p.m., with dives taking place from 1:45-3:00 p.m. The first 75 dippers will receive a free polar bear dip t-shirt

Entry fee is 25 dollars with the fee waived for anyone who raises more than that. A prize will also be given out for top pledge raised. Costumes are optional but highly encouraged with a prize going to the best costume.
