City to hold Community Plan pop-ups

Jan 3, 2024 | 5:52 PM

PRINCE GEORGE—The City of Prince George is inviting members of the community to come and have their say on the Official Community Plan (OCP) review with pop-up events planned over the coming weeks.

These sessions allow residents to learn more about the review process, plus get involved in building an ideal vision for the City’s future by highlighting different areas of Prince George that are important to them for preservation or improvement.

The upcoming event details are:

  • January 5 – Pine Centre Mall, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. near the south entrance between Ardene and Michael Hill
  • January 13 – Cougars Game, CN Centre, 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. in the concourse at Section W
  • January 26 – Pine Centre Mall, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. near the south entrance between Ardene and Michael Hill
  • February 17 – Downtown Winterfest, Veteran’s Plaza, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.

An Official Community Plan communicates a community’s vision, goals and objectives and outlines long-term development plans. It also guides planning and land use management. The City’s existing OCP was adopted in 2011.

The City also looks to use the OCP as a tool to help advance truth and reconciliation efforts with the Lheidli T’enneh First Nation and Urban Indigenous members of the community.

The new OCP will guide growth and development through to 2050.

Two more community open house events are also being planned, with details of those to be put on the website once confirmed. The final OCP review and approval is expected by the end of the year.
