Heidt earns December Player of the Month

PRINCE GEORGE—Riley Heidt continues to make waves across the WHL as the Minnesota Wild prospect has been named WHL Player of the Month for December.

The 5’11” 182 pound centre recorded 7 goals and 17 assist in 11 games in December. The highlight of his December ice time was on Friday, December 15 where he madea five-assist effort in a 6-3 win against Wenatchee.

In total Heidt has earned 68 point (20G-48A) in 34 games this season and leads the entire WHL in scoring. His 48 assists are good for second and his power-play assists are first in the WHL.

Hailing originally from Saskatoon, Sask. Heidt was selected by the Cougars in the first round of the 2020 WHL Prospects Drafts and has been an offensive force since his debut. in 189 career WHL Regular Season games, he has collected 231 points(68G-163A).

Heading into the new year, the Prince George Cougars rank first in the WHL’s Western Conference with a record of 26-10-0-0. With Heidt’s efforts, the Cougars are the second-highest scoring team in the WHL with 163 goals-for in 36 games (4.53 goals per game).

Riley Heidt and his team will return to action tonight (6 p.m. PT)when the Cats visit the Wenatchee Wild.
