Timberwolves win over TRU WolfPack

KAMLOOPS – The UNBC Timberwolves basketball teams are in Kamloops this weekend to face the TRU WolfPack.
Yesterday (Jan. 26), the men secured a dramatic 69-67 overtime victory. Josh Gillespie and Justin Sunga both paced UNBC with 17 points while Evgeny Baukin added 14 points and 10 rebounds. The battle at the charity stripe played a big difference in the contest with UNBC knocking down 18 of their 25 attempts while TRU went just 9-20. With the result, the Timberwolves now move to 8-7.
Meanwhile, the women’s team earned a 78-69 victory. Svetlana Boykova and Rebecca Landry powered the UNBC offence with 20 and 19 points apiece. Boykova added 17 rebounds for the impressive double-double. The win improves UNBC’s record to 3-12.
Timberwolves and Wolfpack will be facing each other again tonight (Jan. 27) inside TCC.
