PRINCE GEORGE – Living in a wildfire-prone area means having a solid evacuation plan. Including your animal companion in your evacuation plan is crucial, as doing so can help alleviate anxiety for both pets and owners.

As emergencies can strike unexpectedly, our families often are not together when they occur. In such situations, it’s crucial to consider how we can protect and help our loved ones, which for many could also include pets.

Animal experts suggest exposing your animal to different environments is one of the steps to making an evacuation much smoother.

“A big reason for pet evacuation failure or household evacuation failure due to animals is that people aren’t able to find pet-friendly accommodations.”
