Regional District looks into community plan for Salmon Valley and Lakes area
PRINCE GEORGE— The Regional District of Fraser-Fort George is reviewing the Official Community Plan for Electoral Area A and they need your help. Residents, aged 18-45, living Salmon Valley, Nukko Lake, Chief Lake and Ness Lake are invited to provide feedback through a survey.
In collaboration with UNBC the survey is looking into the challenges and barriers faced by people living and working in a rural setting. Information gathered from the survey will assist the Regional District in updating their Official Community Plan for Electoral Area A, focusing on housing and agriculture. The survey can be found online here.
In addition, their will be community open houses taking place next week. The Regional District is inviting residents to drop in and share their perspective with the first event being held Tuesday, March 12, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Ness Lake Community Hall. The second event will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 6:30 – 8:30 pm at the Salmon Valley Fire Hall.
A new course will be offered this semester at UNBC called ‘Rural Futures in BC’s Provincial North’. Through this course the students will be provided hands on learning as they assisting the Regional District with some of the community engagement processes as part of the Official Community Plan review.
