PRINCE GEORGE – After a lengthy presentation to City Council, a vivid picture was painted of crime in the community last year and what’s on the horizon.

Superintendent Shaun Wright and Inspector Darin Rappel spoke of the drop in file count, meaning the number of charges investigated from 2020 to last year.

Supt. Wright noted that decriminalization of drugs has been “particularly detrimental to the city,” noting the prevalence of prescriptions drugs on the streets and overdose deaths on the rise.

He also spoke of the uptake of gangs from the Lower Mainland in the city adding to criminal activity in the city.
