Mackenzie to begin burning brush piles

NORTHERN B.C.— On Wednesday, March 13, 2024, Mackenzie will begin burning brush piles near the McLeod Lake Mackenzie community forest. The burns will be along Highway 39 and Gagnon Creek to reduce fire hazards along the highway corridor.

Burning will only proceed if the conditions remain suitable. Smoke may be visible in the area.

The burns will be performed by the B.C. Wildfire Service, together with the McLeod Lake Community Forest. Members of the B.C. Wildfire Service will be on location to carefully monitor the fires
