Miracle Theatre’s newest production hits the stage

PRINCE GEORGE – “A Comedy of Tenors,” Miracle Theatre’s newest production, is hitting the stage tonight for its first performance.

Despite the name, the production is not a musical, but Miracle Theatre’s Designer/Director Ted Price says it’s a “very, very funny comedy.” It will be performed every night except Mondays up to April 13 at the Arts Space above Books and Company at 7:30 p.m., alongside matinee showings at 2:00 p.m. on weekends.

Every year Miracle Theatre raises funds for a charitable cause, and this year the money is going towards a wildfire structural protection unit. While the fundraising goal is lofty at $180 000, Price explains this equipment could literally save an entire community.

“It can protect up to 75 homes or other structures at one time against an advancing fire, and because we’re a city in the middle of a forest, it’s very important equipment because this is a kind of equipment that could potentially prevent a wildfire entering the city,” Price said.

“It seemed especially timely given that they are predicting this could be the most serious wildfire season ever. And we were very concerned with what happened last year, and as one person put it, we might be one lightning strike away from becoming another Kelowna or Shuswap or, Lord help us, Fort McMurray. So I think every community should think ahead and have equipment like this on standby,” he continued.

To enjoy a great show and also support this important cause, you can buy tickets for $37.50 at Books and Company. You can either buy them in person or phone them at 250-563-6637.
