Get to know Prince George Cougar Riley Heidt

PRINCE GEORGE — Growing up in Saskatoon, hockey has always been in Riley Heidt’s life. Mom and Dad played hockey and ringette and every winter an ODR would be set up for Riley and his siblings. It’s no surprise he fell in love with the game.

Fast forward to the 2020 WHL draft. Something that changed the Cougars franchise forever. Heidt was selected 2nd overall by the organization which hadn’t had a winning record since the 2016-17 season. In the past other prospects balked at signing a contract in Prince George. However, Heidt was thrilled when the team called his name and saw a great future ahead of him.

Now after a couple of years of post-season appearances and winning records, the Prince George Cougars are having their best season to date. The organization has already surpassed the most wins in franchise history while Heidt is having the best season of his career with 114 points in just 64 Games.

Now theirs just one thing left to do, win a WHL Championship for the city of Prince George and #27 knows this year’s Cougars team is a special one.
