Northern Ice Sports launch new programming to help keep young hockey players local

PRINCE GEORGE —It’s something that happens too often. Talented hockey players leave Northern BC at a young age to find better development opportunities. Well Northern Ice Sports is looking to change that, announcing its new ‘Program of Excellence’ for kids to stay in town and get the proper training needed to take the next step in their hockey career

Former Spruce King Kevin Martin will be one of the coaches in the program and is looking forward to providing insight to a smaller group of kids. This means more ice time, more puck handling, and more one-on-one learning.

The first set of programming starts in April to help youth get ready for tryouts. With the goal to have that academy-type program up by September to get kids the needed development here in Prince George.
