Dawson Creek standoff ends peacefully

DAWSON CREEK — Mounties in Dawson Creek say a standoff that started Tuesday night ended peacefully.
RCMP say that at 5 p.m. Tuesday night they received a report of a suicidal man at a home in the city.
“After approximately two hours of negotiation the male was successfully taken into custody without any injury,” says Cst. Emma Baron. “The Old Edmonton Highway was closed off for the duration of the negotiations for the safety of the public but is now open again.”
RCMP say there is no longer any concern for safety and the public can return to the area.
