VANDERHOOF —BC Wildfire Service began “controlled burn trials” at the Vanderhoof airport, on Thursday, April 18. The smoke from the burning may impact nearby residents and the burns will be conducted intermittently over the next several weeks.

BC Wildfire Service also says any smoke produced by the burn is expected to quickly disappear, though some smoke may linger.

BC Wildfire says one of the reasons behind the trial is to gather accurate information for fire behaviour.

By setting up water delivery systems and positioning resources and personnel throughout the trial area, the Wildfire Service will also provide training to Vanderhoof Fire and Rescue and the members of Nadleh Whut’en First Nation.
