PRINCE GEORGE – The College of New Caledonia’s (CNC) Board of Governors has passed a balanced budget that will maintain and enhance student services in the 2024/25 fiscal year and focus on key priority areas.

The college board approved the budget during a regular meeting today. “We developed the balanced budget guided by priorities in our lhulh whuts’odutel’eh | Learning Together strategic plan,” said Cindy Heitman, CNC’s president. “We made choices focusing on students’ experiences and strategic enrolment, ensuring access and flexibility, as well as continuous improvement across the college.

CNC’s 2024/25 budget will support students’ success in several ways. These include:

• Renewing the college’s focus on truth and reconciliation, and decolonization;

• New initiatives for student experiences including improved enrolment information systems, support for student ambassadors and student services, expanded helpdesk support hours, and additions for orientation and student events; and

• Building upon equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts to ensure every student is welcome, acknowledged and respected. “

We have an exciting time ahead, and this budget will fuel many opportunities for students and the college community as a whole,” added Ms. Heitman.

We will continue with our enrolment planning measures that will support the health of the college while putting the needs and experiences of students at the forefront.”
