Evacuation alert lifted for wildfire near Endako

ENDAKO — Good news for people living in Endako.

The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako has lifted the evacuation alert for the Endako wildfire (G40119).

The alert was issued on the weekend due to an out-of-control wildfire in the area. The alert had affected 50 properties and around 135 residents.

Board Chair Mark Parker says the fire came within 750 metres of the community and put a real scare into residents. He says the fire is now classified as “being held.”

Despite that, the evacuation alert remains in effect for the Burgess Creek wildfire located between Williams Lake and Quesnel.

That alert is affecting six properties.
