Ravensbergen, Cougars blank Winterhawks to take lead in Western Conference final

PRINCE GEORGE — Joshua Ravensbergen is quickly becoming a local hero.

The 17-year-old goaltender was magnificent for the Prince George Cougars in a 5-0 win over the Portland Winterhawks in Game 1 of the WHL Western Conference final on Friday (April 26) at CN Centre.

He stopped 33 shots to secure his third shutout of the playoffs.

Terik Parascak, Bauer Dumanski, Hudson Thornton, Ondrej Becher and Koehn Ziemmer scored for the Cats, with a sellout crowd of 6,011 in attendance.

Game 2 of the best-of-seven series is slated for Saturday (April 27), a 6 p.m. start at CN Centre.
