SD57 facing $2 million deficit
PRINCE GEORGE — School District 57 is in the midst of budget discussions and they are having to address a structural deficit of 2 million dollars.
Potential reductions put forward in the 2024-2025 draft budget include a reduction in school adminstration positions and a reduction to school budget allocations by 30 dollars per student.
If all the proposed reductions are implemented, that would still leave the district with a deficit of $300,000 and Board Chair Craig Brennan says that “difficult decisions” will have to be made.
A special board meeting is set to take place on May 14, to debate the budget. Public feedback is permitted on the budget until Friday, May 3.
