UBC to host open dialogue about Pacific Salmon

May 6, 2024 | 1:10 PM

PRINCE GEORGE— On Tuesday, May 7, from 9 a.m.- 12 p.m. researchers at the University of British Columbia will be holding a dialogue session at the House of Ancestors to discus Pacific Salmon.

The goal of the discussion is to provide insight to future government policy and actions to restore the population of one B.C.’s keystone species. Through these discussion researchers hope to gain input from local communities and foster a network of collaboration across B.C. to benefit the rebuilding of Pacific Salmon.

While there has been considerable research into the causes of Salmon decline, as well as a reduction in fishing to compensate, the decline continues. UBC seeks to gain additional insight to the causes from local community leaders who have seen the impact of salmon population decline firsthand.
