Cougars look to build on this seasons success for years to come

PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Cougars were flying high. Competing in the Western Conference Final for the first time since 2007. It was one of the most successful seasons in franchise history and all of a sudden it was taken away after a double OT loss to the Portland Winterhawks.

There were plenty of young players contributing. Seven rookies added to this group night in and night out. None more important than goalie Joshua Ravenebergen who led the WHL with six shutouts and had incredible numbers for a 17-year-old. Although watching other rookies have success helped him throughout the year.

Now it’s about building on the success. The Cougars broke multiple records this year including attendance in a single game. With the CN Centre completely sold out throughout the playoffs the team is already hungry to build on it. Hoping fans will continue to come back for seasons to come.

This team will look different next year with plenty of decisions to be made this upcoming offseason. However, the Cougars will still have a core ready to compete for a WHL Championship as soon as next year.
