PRINCE GEORGE— The UNBC Timberwolves men’s basketball program is excited to announce a the commitment of Marcus Nickles from Salmon Arm.

The 6’2″ point guard earned Salmon Arm Golds MVP honours in the 2023/2024 season after averaging 28.1 point-per-game along with 4.6 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 3.3 steals. Nickles attended the UNBC Timberwolves Spring ID Camp last April where his new team mates made a positive impression,

“The culture and the family type setting that they’ve built made me decide to commit to UNBC,” recalled Nickles. “They bring a new approach to winning and I admire how close the team was and they’re all super nice guys and I’m excited to be a part of that.”

“The campus is beautiful and it’s a smaller school with smaller classes which allows you to get to know your professors,” added Nickles who plans to study Biology with an interest in becoming a chiropractor once his playing days are done.

In turn Nickles made an impeccable first impression with Prince George at ID Camp. Coach Jordan says that a number of his contacts went out of their way to promote Nickles, including former Timberwolf Charles Barton.

“Charles has raved about Marcus and we are definitely glad we brought him up for a visit,” explained Jordan. “Marcus shoots the ball extremely well from three, and also has creativity off the dribble. He showed a steady demeanor on the court, and we believe he has a bright future. He had a great camp and we are extremely happy he has decided to commit to our program.”

Leading up to the Fall basketball season Nickles will be preparing for the intesity of Canada West by spending time in the weight room building muscle, and quickening his shooting release.
