Prince George Emergency Reception Centre urges evacuees to register
PRINCE GEORGE – The infamous wildfire from Northern B.C. forced thousands of residents to evacuate to cities such as Prince George last week.
In a timely manner, the city of Prince George opened its permanent Emergency Reception Centre location with four trailers, which was possible through provincial funding.
The recent report confirms an estimated 260 individuals, about 120 households, are currently evacuated in the centre.
“They’re from probably a variety of places,” says the manager of the Emergency program in Prince George, Tanya Spooner. “We don’t actually take note of exactly which community people have come in from our statistics. So they’re (probably) coming from the Fort Nelson area, Fort Nelson First Naton, potentially Doig River as well.”
