NHL Goaltender Carey Price and Musical Artist Alex Cuba receive honorary degrees at UNBC Convocation
PRINCE GEORGE — It was a special moment for NHL Goaltender Carey Price when he received his honorary Doctor of Laws degree from UNBC during their 2024 Convocation ceremony.
Price has a personal connection to the University as his mother, Chief Lynda Price of the Ulkatcho First Nation, is an alumnus. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in First Nations Studies with a minor in Political Science back in 2011. Now the moment is full circle for the Montreal Canadiens Legend as Price follows in her footsteps.
Acclaimed singer-songwriter Alex Cuba was also in attendance to receive his honorary Doctor of Laws degree from UNBC. Born in Cuba he immigrated to Canada in 1999. Fast forward to today and it’s one of the more special moments in Canada and his music career.
