PRINCE GEORGE – Update: Annabelle participated in the national competition in Montreal last weekend. Her instructor, Ryan Rahier, mentioned this morning that she placed 4th in the Industrial Millwright category, which is an impressive accomplishment for this young mechanic.

Earlier: A College of New Caledonia Annabelle La Londe excelled in the Skilled Trades BC competition, earning a prestigious gold medal.

Her commitment to delivering top-notch work during the competition has earned her this honour, emphasizing the value of hands-on experience and the guidance she received from her mentors.

Being “mechanically inclined” means having a natural aptitude or skill for understanding, working with, and fixing mechanical systems. She took her talents to the provincial level and emerged as a top competitor.

Winning a gold medal as a foundation student was a huge triumph for her and CNC.

“ I think the quality of the education that we’re able to provide here in the trades at CNC. But I think more importantly, it’s about really women in trades and how Annabelle can come and showcase her talents and her skills within the framework here at CNC”

Ward Cartier

CNC, Dean school of trades & technologies

The competition assigned La Londe to assemble a gearbox that incorporates precision alignment using a laser.

“There’s also a theory component. So, you have to be able to answer questions about how the lubrication in the system works and what kind of bearings are in the system.”

Annabelle La Londe

College New Caledonia student

La Londe is new to the industry and aims to become a certified Industrial mechanic. She has plans to challenge the skills she is learning at a summer national competition.
