Connaught Youth Centre receives $58,000 from Four Rivers Co-op Community Spaces Program
PRINCE GEORGE– A special presentation took place at the Connaught Youth Centre Society on June 13th. Four Rivers Co-op presented them with a cheque for $58,000 through their 2024 Co-op Community Spaces Program. A grant program that allocates 1 million dollars to projects across Western Canada
The funding will support their “Northern Fresh Food Centre” project. An indoor hydroponics grow unit that can provide access to nutrient-dense food. The unit can produce up to 480 fresh greens every four to five weeks, which will be distributed to high-risk youth, and their families to help those struggling with food security.
The news came as a big surprise as the Youth Centre is one of 14 organizations in Western Canada to receive the grant and only the 3rd time in the last ten years a group in the North was selected for the grant.
