Murder suspect arrested in Prince George

PRINCE GEORGE — The Major Crimes Section of the Montreal City Police Service arrested two suspects in Quebec and in Prince George Tuesday (June 18) in connection with the murder of a 27-year-old man who died in Quebec on May 14.

Nearly one hundred police officers from different police forces participated in this operation. The first suspect, who is 25-years-old, was arrested in Saint-Jérôme.

As for the second suspect, aged 31, he was apprehended in Prince George and will also be charged with first degree murder.

CKPG News can confirm that multiple emergency vehicles were present at a downtown motel Tuesday morning though the exact location of where the arrest occurred hasn’t been confirmed.

The second suspect will be repatriated to Montreal in the coming days.

This criminal investigation led by the SPVM benefited from the close collaboration of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Laval Police Service, the Sûreté du Québec, the Vancouver Police Department and the Victoria Police Service.

The investigation started on May 14, 2024, around 8:20 p.m., when 911 received a report concerning noises resembling gunshots and the presence of an unconscious man on avenue du Parc, near rue Legendre, in the borough of Ahuntsic–Cartierville.

The suspects reportedly quickly fled in a vehicle before police arrived. The victim was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A security perimeter was set up at the intersection to allow those responsible for the investigation to analyze the crime scene and meet witnesses. This was the 11th homicide of the year 2024 on the island of Montreal.
