PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George Fire Rescue offered a Cariboo community a helping hand over the weekend.

Two back-up fire engines and six firefighters were deployed on July 21 to help fight the River Valley fire near Williams Lake.

“We are happy to provide support to our neighbours across the region when were are able,” said Fire Chief Cliff Warner. “This deployment did not impact day-to-day operations for the City of Prince George.”

One truck and four crews members returned Tuesday night (July 23), and the remaining crew will stay for a few more days. The River Valley wildfire is now classified as ‘under control’ by the BC Wildfire Service.
