RCMP investigating ‘suspicious death’ in Mackenzie

MACKENZIE — The North District Major Crime Unit (ND MCU) has been deployed to a suspicious death in Mackenzie.
RCMP say that in the early morning hours of Friday August 16, the Mackenzie RCMP responded to a report of shots fired at a residence on Bijoux Drive. Officers arrived to find a man deceased outside the home.
“ND MCU has taken conduct of the investigation and is working closely in partnership with the Mackenzie RCMP and the BC Coroners Service. The public can expect to see an increased police presence in the area for the next several days while the investigation continues,” says Cpl. Madonna Saunderson.
She notes the death appears to be “an isolated incident” adding “investigators do not believe there is any potential danger to the public.”
