PRINCE GEORGE— The UNBC Timberwolves women’s soccer team has added another addition to their midfield line up ahead of the 2024 season.

Scarlet Thomas from Sydney Australia just finished a season with the North West Sydney Football Club headed by coach Tiana Gauci.

“Everyone’s been so welcoming,” shared Thomas. “I feel like Australians get along with Canadians quite well, and everyone here so far has been happy and kind.”

Head coach of the T-wolves Neil Sedgwick says that Thomas has a true desire to develop her game at UNBC adding: “She has already made a positive influence to the program and the culture of the team.”

Despite a few injuries in her recent seasons, Thomas has still managed to play soccer and futsal (an indoor sport similar to soccer) at a NSW State level.

In the classroom, Thomas has been recognized for her skills in leadership and English. At UNBC she plans to study Psychology.

“I’m really excited to get into that and explore more journey with headspace,” says Thomas when asked about her academic goals. “The UNBC campus is beautiful and obviously pairing what I love most – soccer with academics is a great way to balance life.”
