‘I’m a true conservative’: Rachael Weber on her removal as Conservative candidate
PRINCE GEORGE — Rachael Weber says that when she heard the news that she had been dropped as the Conservative Party of BC’s candidate for the riding of Prince George-Mackenzie, she heard it from a staffer, not from party leader John Rustad himself.
“I actually didn’t believe it. I thought it was quite shocking and I just couldn’t believe that a Liberal candidate would be taking over a Conservative candidate position. It didn’t make any sense to me at all.” – Rachael Weber
Weber says that she got a call at 10:30pm on Saturday night, from a party staffer, that she was replaced as the party’s candidate. After her removal, Weber decided she would run as an independent, saying that her opponent, Kiel Giddens, is a “liberal candidate”, not a conservative.
