PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George Fire Rescue is responding to a structure fire that broke out at approximately 1:30 p.m. (Jan.16) in the downtown core.

The City says nineteen firefighters from four fire halls are currently on scene at the former City Second Hand Shop at 4th Avenue and Dominion Street.

Smoke can be seen billowing out from the building though the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

No one was injured and damage was limited to the one building.

Crews have managed to knock down the fire. There was a real concern for losing the surrounding buildings. The guys did an unbelieve job saving The Croft building. Crews will be there during the night managing the fire. There are no injuries to report,” said Fire Chief Cliff Warner.

Surrounding buildings and residences were evacuated for safety purposes.
