BURNS LAKE — Resources from across the province are being deployed to help in the search for a missing six-year-old girl, according to a B.C. RCMP press release.

Oaklynn Schweder was last seen at about 6 p.m. on Thursday (Sept. 18) on the 6400-block of Skins Road in Southbank in Burns Lake, wearing a red and blue plaid dress, leggings with white bowties and pink socks.

According to her family, Oaklynn is non-verbal but will make noises to communicate and she likes to go into small spaces.

The RCMP, Search and Rescue, BC Wildfire Service and volunteers are in the area assisting with the search and Canadian Rangers are en route to offer support.

Helicopters, remotely piloted aircraft systems and police service dogs have been utilized and the Skin Tyee Band is assisting with co-ordinating volunteers and providing them with food and shelter.

Volunteers are asked to carpool as space is limited and congestion could hinder current search and relief efforts.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Oaklynn is urged to contact Burns Lake RCMP at 250-692-7171.

Should anyone find her, RCMP is asking they call police immediately and stay with Oaklynn until help arrives.
