PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Spruce Kings have announced today that they have relieved head coach Alex Evin of his coaching duties.

General Manager Mike Hawes said in a statement that part of his job as the general manager is “to recognize when a change is needed, and that the organization is at that point.” Hawes said that Evin is “an incredibly hard-working coach who did everything he could for the success of the Spruce Kings for eight seasons including playing a huge role in our 2019 championship season.”

Furthermore, Hawes went on to say in the statement that:

“In his time here Alex played a huge role in the development of many young athletes who went on to play NCAA hockey and who became better young men because of Alex’s coaching, guidance and mentorship.”

“This team is better than our record. A lot of that responsibility falls on the play of our players. As a group they have underachieved. They are all smart enough to know that.”

Associate Coach Brad Tesink will assume the Head Coach role in the interim.
