PRINCE GEORGE — (UPDATE 3:00 p.m.): Environment Canada has ended the fog advisory for both the Prince George and Quesnel areas.

ORIGINAL – A fog advisory is in effect for the Prince George and Quesnel areas this morning, Dec. 8.

Environment Canada says the conditions are favourable for the development of dense fog this morning, which is expected to dissipate later today.

“Visibility may be significantly and suddenly reduced to near zero,” the weather agency said. “Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility.”

DriveBC is reporting sections of low visibility on Highway 97 between Prince George and Quesnel, with slippery sections reported north of Prince George to McLeod Lake and on Highway 16 west and east of Prince George.

Environment Canada is forecasting a mix of sun and cloud in Prince George Sunday, though fog patches are expected to develop overnight once again, before dissipating on Monday morning.

If you have to travel, check the latest alerts and forecasts from both Environment Canada and DriveBC, and ensure your head and tail lights are on.
