Air quality statement issued for Vanderhoof-area
VANDERHOOF — Environment Canada has issued an air quality advisory for the Vanderhoof-area because of high concentrations of fine particulate matter.
In a statement, the weather agency and Northern Health say the air quality in the area is only expected to improve if the weather conditions change.
The statement says exposure is particularly a concern for people with chronic illnesses, such as asthma, heart disease and diabetes. It is also of concern to infants, seniors and pregnant women.
“Persons with chronic underlying medical conditions or acute infections should postpone or reduce strenuous exercise until the advisory is lifted,” the statement said. “Where appropriate, maintain physical distancing.”
