Northern Health warning of scam calls that offer prizes

PRINCE GEORGE — Northern Health is warning people to be careful of scam calls that claim to offer prizes like a fire safety basket or a free home inspections.

In a social media post, the health authority says it has become aware of “several” such instances, and that these calls are “in no way affiliated” with the health authority.

“The callers may be representing a company with ‘Northern Health’ as part of its business name,” Northern Health said.

Northern Health says people who get these calls or emails should verify the source before sharing personal information like home address or banking details. They’re also asking people to refrain from making purchases or donations unless they’re absolutely sure.

“When in doubt, don’t hesitate to reach out to us to confirm anything using Northern Health or its facilities’ names, are legitimate initiatives,” the statement said.
