PRINCE GEORGE — Northern Health is alerting those who use drugs about a substance being sold in the region that is “more toxic than fentanyl.”
The substance comes in the form of a white pill sold as oxycocet. However, the pill has tested positive for another substance, isotonitazene.
“Isotonitazene or ‘Nitazene’ is a synthetic opioid that is equal or more toxic than fentanyl and is not detected on fentanyl test strips,” said Northern Health in a news release issued Thursday (March 27).
