PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire at 9:50 a.m. Monday morning at 6145 Gauthier Road (April 14).

Crews arrived to find smoke coming from the roof and fire inside the front door. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and contained it to the kitchen area. Losses are estimated at $80,000.

No one was injured though three family pets passed away in the fire – two dogs and one cat. The cause is being investigated though the owner of the home contacted CKPG News to say it was an electrical fire that started behind the microwave in the kitchen.

The owner says the home was destroyed and that she is now staying at a local hotel.
