PRINCE GEORGE – It’s a small logo in the doorway of Nancy O’s restaurant downtown, but it carries a big message. Bites, Flights and Sights.

“It really highlights all the kinds of best locally owned businesses in Prince George, whether it’s, you know, our breweries, the winery, some retail restaurants, cafes, that sort of thing,” says Eoin Foley, Owner of Nancy O’s.

It’s a program that was launched by Tourism Prince George.

“So for us, it’s geared towards visitors, specifically those folks that are here for conferences like COFI or for sporting events and encouraging them to try these local restaurants,” explains Colin Carson, CEO of Tourism Prince George. “They sign up, they get discounts at these places, they check in at these places, and they can win prizes as well. So it’s a pretty cool way for us to promote different attractions and restaurants in a unique way here in Prince George.”

Nancy O’s is just one of nearly thirty businesses, such as the Aberdeen Golf club and Northern Lights Estate Winery, taking part in Bites, Flights and Sights.

“Locals and tourists like so always welcome to do that. Of course, it is an ongoing program, so it’s more likely that a lot of locals will get out and use it,” says Foley. “We definitely recommend not because it’s a great place for visitors to kind of start with and and decide on where they’re going to go and hang out and spend money.”

“It kind of varies based on the season,” says Carson. “So we do a variety of different things. Sometimes it’s a grand prize draw where, if you check in at 20 of the 27 locations, then you get entered into the grand prize draw, which might be, you know, a couple of nights at a hotel and a big gift certificate or something like that.”
