28 fire starts the past week in Prince George Fire Centre

PRINCE GEORGE — It’s been a busy past 7 days in the Prince George Fire Centre.

Officials say there were 28 new fire starts during that time – all due to wind, dry terrain and high temperatures.

Eighty fire personnel were stationed near the Hixon fire, which crept within two kilometres of Hixon’s core.

Looking ahead, the wind and dryness will remain though temperatures won’t be as high.
