Dog Show returns to Prince George Agriplex
PRINCE GEORGE – The annual Prince George Kennel Club Dog Show is back for it’s 19th edition this weekend. The Prince George Agriplex was a busy place friday morning as competitors washed, groomed and showed off their dogs to judges with the hopes of winning first place. With various competitions running all weekend long there is something for all dog lovers and as the President of the Prince George Kennel Club Karin Beeler says you may just find the right dog for you.
“We’re back in full force and we’re happy to be at this venue. It’s a nice indoor arena, which is great for all weather conditions, and Saturday will be rally obedience in the ring behind you, and Sunday will be obedience for people interested in that. Formation shows are where the breeds are judged according to each breed standard. Mixed breeds can compete in the performance events in rally or obedience, but in the conformation ring it is only for purebred dogs which are CKC registered purebred dogs. It’s a great place for people to come to check out breeds they may not see locally, talk to breeders, handlers, make contacts and find out about the breeds character.” says Beeler.
For many competitors a lot of work goes into these shows and the competition is tight to take home that top position. As competitor Trina Neil says even with all the preparation nothing is a guarantee.
